Before any orthodontic treatment is started a comprehensive general dental examination should be completed by your family Dentist or School Dental Therapist. Any restorative or periodontal therapy should generally be completed before any braces are placed.
INITIAL CONSULTATION
We understand that everyone’s needs and expectations about orthodontics are different.
At our initial examination, great care is taken to provide you with individualized treatment. We encourage you to ask any questions you may have about orthodontic treatment. This will be the start of a continuing dialogue between patient (parents), orthodontists and practice staff.
We will discuss
» Is there an orthodontic problem and if so, what is it?
» Your options for treatment to correct the problem.
» Will any teeth will need to be removed
» Type of appliances we could use
» Costs involved for the treatment
» How long the treatment will be.
If any radiographs are required (not usually at the first consultation appointment) there will be an additional cost. Radiographs are digital and therefore can be viewed and discussed at this appointment if necessary
